For more than 35 years, I've been a student of percussion. Having traveled extensively around the globe, I'm convinced that percussion illustrates how–in spite of cultural difference—we're all very much the same. People have a need to express themselves through rhythm and music and worldwide, have come up with strikingly similar ways of doing so! I am percussion area head, director of the CrossPulse Ethnic Drum Ensemble, and a member of the Board of Directors at Music/Arts Institute.® For more than 20 years, I have been helping students of all ages and abilities develop not only the skills needed to be outstanding percussionists, but also the habits and mindset necessary to succeed in all aspects of life. In addition to my teaching at Music/Arts, I am a free-lance percussionist and owner of Darbuka Productions, an audio/video production company based in Lees Summit, Missouri. |
