TIMPANI

Materials

All timpani students should have the following:

• sticks - 1 pair, general purpose timp mallets. "Balter 3", "Vic Firth T1", Goodman 3" or equivalent.
• tuning fork - pitch "A440" - no pitch pipes allowed.
• access to instruments - contact Jon for details.
• stick bag - any model/style
• additional sticks/mallets will be added as needed.

MUSIC

• Beginners
  • Modern Method for Timpani - Saul Goodman
• Intermediate - as above, plus:
  • The Solo Timpanist - Vic Firth.
• 3-ring binder - for handouts and musical examples discussed in lessons.
• a pencil - please bring a pencil to every lesson and keep one on your music stand at home - you will be expected to mark your music frequently.
• A positive attitude - come expecting to learn and to have fun.
